Colourful drink vending machines. These are a common sight on just about every street in Japan, even in rural areas, and provide a useful extra source of income for small business owners, often elderly shop keepers. The variety of items sold is tremendous, from sports drinks to orange juice, iced tea and coffee. Often both hot and cold drinks are served from the same machine. These are in Shimonoseki, western Honshu.
