Researcher studies cell death. Technician at a light microscope examines cells (seen on screen) undergoing apoptosis. Apoptosis is the process of \genetically programmed cell death\". This research on cell aging & death is part of Project Chronos, a study on human aging at the Centre d'Etude du Polymorphisme Humain (CEPH) in Paris. Project Chronos also involves mapping the genes of people who have reached extreme old age (centenarians over age 100), to understand the genetic process of aging. Project Chronos has discovered genes linked to human aging. Research on aging and cell death may offer gene therapies to prolong life."
