Mightysat-1 satellite in space after being deployed in Earth orbit. It was deployed on 14 December 1998 from the Space Shuttle Endeavour during mission STS-88 (4-15 December 1998). This small satellite was launched as part of NASA's Hitchhiker program to launch small satellites. It included several experiments designed to demonstrate the possibilities of future space technologies, including a carbon fibre composite structure, solar cells, the MAPLE packaging method, the SMARD low-shock separation system, and the MPID space debris experiment. It was planned to operate for one year. Its orbit decayed on 21 November 1999. Photographed on 15 December 1998.
