The Franciscan Catholic church of Bethphage completed in 1883 on the ruins of Byzantine 4th century and Crusaders 12th century churches, in 1955 famous Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi designed the church restoration, at the same time he slso designed the tower above the front entrance, this church is where the yearly Palm Sunday procession starts going to the Jerusalem Old City as this is the site on Mount Olives where Jesus Christ mounted a colt to ride to the Temple Mount the Sunday before his crucifixion.
