An archer's thumb ring of carved ivory,Mughal Empire,Bikaner,circa 1787. The exterior florally carved,and filled with black lacquer. The interior of the extension with a(slightly rubbed)four-line text in Nagari script reading "Maharaja Pratab Singh Ji Nera Balaji ko bhent ki"(= donated by Maharaja Pratab Singh to the Balaji temple). Length 5 cm. Maharaja Pratab Singh briefly ruled over Bikaner.
