The Piramide de Mayo (May Pyramid), in the centre of the Plaza de Mayo, is the oldest national monument in Buenos Aires. The work of the French sculptor, Joseph Dubourdieu, it is a Statue of Liberty built in 1811 to celebrate the first anniversary of the May Revolution, giving Argentina independence from Spain.
