The low tide today in Venice has reached -62 centimetres above mean sea level, causing serious problems to the navigation in the smaller canals. It is not the first time in fact, in recent years, Venice has experienced a series of shallow tides that has seen many of its famous canals run dry. Climate change and subsidence are cited as two significant factors in this phenomenon.
