Single white flowers of a Japanese flowering cherry Prunus serrulata Joi-nioi (almond scented blossom) photographed in early April in a woodland garden near Caernarfon, Wales, UK. The modern slate fence is made of specially ordered machine cut heather blue slabs from Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda. Traditional slate fences were made from waste slabs, or offcuts from the local slate quarries. The base of the slabs are dug into the ground and a double strand of galvanised fencing wire is wound along the tops to hold them together.
