The Lungarni are the roads along the river Arno in the cities it crosses: among the major ones there are Pisa and Florence. The Florentine Lungarni cut the historic centre in two and overlook numerous places of interest. The avenues of the Florentine Lungarni were regularized during the nineteenth century, often sacrificing some picturesque ancient structures, such as the fish ponds. In Florence one of the most famous is the Lungarno degli Archibugieri, where passes the Vasari corridor and on which the Uffizi Gallery overlook.
