The root collected. Infrequent in oak woods from Jackson and Johnson counties northward. Medicinally active constituents unknown. Used as an astringent, anodyne, and nervine. [Sanicula canadensis L., with 3- to 5- fingered leaves and globose fruit, is much more common than the above species and oc- curs in woods throughout the state. Its roots are collected.].
