Nostoc is a genus of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). The cyanobacteria of this kind occurring in moist places and often form jellylike colonies. In this closeup you can see very well the filaments and gelatinous little balls. An willow leaf lies on the gelatinous green pellicle.
