He gained not only popularity, butgeneral confidence and esteem, for with his boldand uncompromising policy against whatever hebelieved to be wrong he united good judqmcntand complete fair-mindedness. Ferrier is esteemed alike for his personalcharacteristics and the manner in which he hasperformed his duties as a loyal and patrioticcitizen, and in all the communities where he hasmade his home he has enjoyed a respected posi-tion among the representative men.
