Hawkins, who had come at the request ofGenerals Willcox, Humphreys, Meade, and Getty, who had all faced that terrible fire on Telegrai)hRoad. A conference ensued in the presence of Sumner, Hooker, and Franklin, and Burnside was atlast dissuaded.
