Comrade Tallmadge is descended fromsturdy and distinguished colonial and Rev-olutionary stock on both father andmothers side. He is the eighth in de-scent from Thomas Tallmadge, who cameto this country from Suffolk County, Eng-land, in 1630. Nearly every generationhas had distinguished representatives inboth civil and military positions. GeneralBenjamin Tallmadge, who was a member of Washingtons staff andhad charge of Major Andre from the time of capture until hisexecution, and who afterward represented the Litchfield (Conn.)district in Congress for nineteen years, was one of the ancestors ofComrade Henry H.
