These charming gilded figures, here seen from behind, are the centrepiece of an old metal shop sign on an early-18th century timber-framed house in Braunstrasse. They stand on a black-painted platform, surrounded by wrought iron flowers. Michelstadt is a small picturesque town between Darmstadt and Heidelberg. It is located in the heart of the Odenwald nature park and has numerous historic buildings, many timber-framed and with some retaining their traditional shop and inn signs.
