He was bornAugust 6. 1835, and was a son of Williamand Louisa Patterson. He was born inDunbar township, Fayette county, Pennsyl-vania, where he received a common schooleducation. He was reared on the farm inDunbar township on which Lutellus Collinsresides, and was married to Eliza Stoffer,a daughter of Abram and Frances Stoffer, in1855.
