The equipment of each ofthe transformer stations so far installed consists of two step-down transformers of the Westinghouse self-cool-ing type, 33,000 to volts, together with disconnecting switchesand suitable lightning-protecting apparatus, including low-equiva-lent lightning arresters and static interrupters. Provision has beenmade in each station for a third similar unit when required. Thetransformer stations contain no automatic switches of any type. «C. through rotary converter sub-stations and direct-current railwaymotors. At this time the Indianapolis & Cincinnati Traction Co. is givingan hourly service between Rushville and the neighboring townstowards Indianapolis, and the work is being completed rapidly witha view to running through cars into the larger city. There are atpresent 10 cars which were built by the St. Louis Car Co. The carsare 55 ft. over all, and divided into three compartments; one ar-ranged to carry baggage, the center compartment as a smoker, anda main compartinont with a seating capacity for 38 people. Thecars are handsomely finished in mahogany, with plate glass win-dows and art glass in the ventilators.
