Preliminaries with the Class of1916, both formal and informal, were passed over as a draw—with little realization of what wasforeboded and forewarned for the ensuing year by these struggles. Early in the year Billy Williams was elected president of the class, and from that time onthings began to run smoothly. For the first few weeks we studied—even diligently—but such badhabits must needs give way to the more important duties of the Miner. Freshman Football wasthe first of these; under the leadership of Pat Moore and Coach Cadot we not only made theVarsity dig for every inch, but we also developed a quintet of stars in Heitzm
