The Yorkshire Terrier pub named after a famous breed of dog on Stonegate, one of the narrow cobbled stoned streets lined with medieval buildings of small businesses, such as shops, pubs, eateries and tourist souvenir shops in the historical quarter of York in Yorkshire, Britain. A street name with the ending of ‘Gate’, is a Viking word for ‘street’. In AD 866, the invading Danish Vikings made York their capital city – ‘Jorvik.’
