This long growing season is what enables the Alabama farmer to raise two and three crops on the same ground in the same season. The annual average rainfall for the State as a whole is 52 inches, although in the southern counties bordering on the Gulf it ranges between 60 and 63 inches, and in the North-Central and Northeastern portions it ranges between 53 and 57 inches.
