Pierrot dancer abstract machine drawing
One of a very large folio of machine drawings as submitted for my PhD in Fine Art at Manchester University. This is an X:Y plotter rig with sun and planet drives to the X and Y axes. By having four controls, two suns and two planets it is possible to couple them in such a way as to draw complex curves instead of straight governed by a sequential programmer, unusual outlines are created like this which perhaps resembles a pierrot dancer. The colour is added by Photoshop. All Taitographs, as they are termed, are subject to programme control by a variety of specially designed sequential analogue programmers. To the best of my knowledge I have designed and built more analogue drawing machines than anyone else having reached twenty five different machines and with work still in progress. The wide variety of images are not only widely exhibited but could provide graphic designers with a range of motifs.
