Newbery, the Corner of St. Paul Church-Yard, Ludgate-Street. Type: Antique copperplate map. A copy of the original explanatory text pages will be provided with the map. The map depicts the Battle of St. Lucia or the Battle of the Cul de Sac, a naval battle fought off the island of St. Lucia in the West Indies during the American Revolutionary War on 15 December 1778, between the British Royal Navy and the French Navy. The map is orientated towards the east; it covers the north west coast of the island between Pigeon Island, Gros Islet & Rodney Bay at the left hand edge of the map and Cul-de-Sac bay on the right hand edge of the map. The harbour of "Careenage" (Carénage) was renamed Castries in 1785
