Arriving overseas, hewas ordered to the American Infantry Spe-cialists School at Langres for further in-struction and later to a British school. InJune, 1918, he was assigned to the Eigh-tieth Division, later being transferred tothe 308th Infantry of the Seventy-seventhDivision, with which regiment he metdeath on September 14, 1918, while lead-ing his platoon in the St. Mihiel Drive.
