The bracts are made of green changes with a border decoration of French lilies in gold pressure. The album contains 113 blades with gold on cut that each contain one or two photos. The album is part of an ensemble of four with which the construction of the new Louvre between 1854 and 1857 step by step has been documented on behalf of the French Government. The albums were offered as representation specimens to the emperor, fair heads of state, ministers (such as the copy of the Rijksmuseum) and libraries. 36 of such sets were compiled, each with around 550 photos. Only four ensembles have been preserved.
