From the beginning tothe close of that memorable struggle the highest patriotismand most self-sacrificing devotion was manifested by. the citi-zens. His father, Thomas Sabin, nowin his ninety-sixth year, was born in Ellington,Conn., Dec. 22, 1783, and March 20, 1806, marriedAbigail Duifey, who was born July 3, 1787, anddied March 10, 1846. He bought a farm in Wil-braham, Mass., for $800, which, after seven years, hesold for $1700, and bought the present one, April,1, 1813, for $2000. Deacon Sabin married Lucy C.
