Employees and community members rally to save St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Greenwich Village in New York
Employees and community members rally to save St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Greenwich Village in New York on Wednesday April 7, 2010. The 160 year old hospital, which is $700 million in debt announced that it was shutting down its in-patient services, ending acute care, rehabilitation, and behavioral health care services. Out-patient care like cancer treatment and HIV/AIDS centers will continue to operate but it is doubtful that the emergency department will continue as a Level One Trauma Center. (© Richard B. Levine)
