During the exercise, the 11th MEU had the opportunity to exercise as an entire sea-based Marine Air-Ground Task Force, enhancing its combat power and proficiency while operating in 5th Fleet. The helo-borne raid was the culminating event of the exercise, which the raid force inserted and extracted within one cycle of darkness. The unilateral exercise provides an opportunity for the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th MEU to train in amphibious operations within the 5th Fleet area of operations. The 11th MEU is currently supporting 5th Fleet’s mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region.
