The Minnewater Powder Tower in Bruges is a defensive tower that guards access to the Bruges-Ghent canal. Called the Powder Tower becuase it was a former ammunition depot (Poertoren) it is a vestige of the fortifications that surrounded the town. It is adorned by intricate designed lamps added during the last 150 years.
