Abbs Valley, a post-office of Tazewell county, Virginia. Abingdon, a handsome town, capitol of Washington county,Virginia, is pleasantly situated in a valley between the mainforks of Holston river, about 7 miles from each, 304 miles S. from Richmond, and nearly 8 miles from the boundary ofTennessee. It is the most considerable and flourishing town inthe S. W. part of Virginia. The situation is elevated, thetown is well built, and the princiiml street is macadamized.
