The ancient village near Mantua called Borgo Angeli on the shore of Lake Superior where fishermen once lived.

The ancient fishing village that rises on the right bank of the river Mincio, where it widens and takes the name of Lago Superiore, is just a few kilometers from the city of Mantua. It owes its name to the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli which towards the end of the Middle Ages was included in the complex of the convent of the reformed Dominican fathers, built on the land donated by the lord of Mantua, G. Francesco Gonzaga (1395-1444). With the passage of the church from the Dominicans to the Franciscans in 1675, there is the birth of the village thanks to the proximity of these friars to the poorest population.
