Sabarimala Devotee In The Street Opposite The Entrance Of Petta Sree Dharmasastha Temple, Erumely, Kerala, INDIA - 25/12/2015. Sabarimala is a Hindu pilgrimage destination located in the Western Ghat mountains of Kerala. Over 100 million devotees visit Ayyappan's hilltop temple annually. They wear black or blue dress and do not shave throughout the pilgrimage. Dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, Erumely Sree Dharmasastha Temple is an important stop-over on the way to Sabarimala. This is where the fascinating ritual customs of Pettathullal take place in the afternoon. Devotees come in groups; they dress and behave like tribes with their body and face smeared by colours and charcoal.
