It is distinct in habit and freedom of growth, its flowers are carried more gracefully in loose heads, well above the foliage, and a greater variety of coloring, the predominating colors are reds, pinks and crimsons. Makes an excellent flower for cutting. Grows about 12 inches in height and can be sown in summer or autumn for flowering early the following Spring. We consider it one of the real gems among hardy plants, nut only for the garden but its dainty, graceful sprays of flowers, elegantly arranged on stems 4 feet high, are invaluable for cutting; the flowers are a charming shade of violet-mauve, which is brightened by a bunch of lemon- yellow stamen and anthers.
