Lunar seismometer. Seismic recording device, the passive seismic experiment (PSE), on the surface of the Moon. The PSE was placed in the Hadley Plains area of the Moon during the Apollo 15 mission of 1971 (26 July to 7 August). The device recorded moonquakes and meteorite impacts, so that a profile of the lunar interior could be made. The Mylar foil apron seen, reduces fluctuations in surface temperature.
