The National Jack Company of 7 Exxhange , Mass., has a good thing in the Pearson hub carreplacing jack it is putting out. The quick resultsattained in replacing cars with this jack are truly remark-able. Ordinary jacks hoist straight up and do not movean object sideways. These jacks push sideways at thesame time. A tool that will do such workis surely worth investigating, but it has been tried veryextensively by both steam and street railway men. Thejacks for street railway use are of 30 and 60 poundsweight. The 30-pound being compact and light is suit-able for carrying on every car. The 60-pound is strongerand faster working and is the kind to use if it is not tobe kept on the car. George F.
