Ptilpit Terrace is a mass of stalactites grown al-most together. This part of Jupiter Terrace has beengiven a separate name, and, there is a tradition that afamous clergyman once actually delivered a sermon fromthis natural pulpit. Jupiter Terrace, the greatest of them all, has beenbuilt up by the overflow from two very large hot poolswhich discharge their mineral-laden water over a largepart of this great mound. YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK 39. JUPITER SPRING Cupids Cave is west of the pools on Jupiter Ter-race. When active this brilliant terrace formation in anashen setting of the rnins of former terrace life, presentsa most striking and pleasing contrast. A few years agothe overflow re-entered the ground through an opening largeenough for one to enter. There were stalactites above andstalagmites below, which gradually grew together and final-ly filled the opening. Lately there has been a noticeablediminution in the activity of all springs near this cave;and Canary spring has become quite dry. Narrow Gauge Terrace during recent years hasbecome less active. About ten years ago hot water fiowedfrom many openings along this fissure, almost completelycovering both sides. Now activity is confined to the west-ern end.
