Instruments at Eskdalemuir Observatory, near Eskdalemuir, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. This is standard weather monitoring equipment, including a Stevenson screen, an anemometer, and rain gauges. This geophysical observatory, built in 1904, includes equipment operated by the Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. Sensitive magnetic measurements were relocated here from Kew Observatory in 1908 to avoid the interference caused by London's electrical supplies. This site is still in use in the 21st century, being run by the British Geological Survey and the Met Office.
