Syria, Dura-Europos (Tell Salihiye). Ancient city, Hellenistic, Parthian and Roman. It was founded about 300 BC and abandoned in 256-257 AD. Ruins of the agora. Historical photo. It was looted and mostly destroyed between 2011 and 2014 by the Islamic State during the Syrian Civil War.
