William P. being the third in order ofbirth. Mary Ann. the eldest, became the wifeof John Smith and they went to Californiaduring th mo-! prosperous epoch in the historyof that state. They became the parents oftwelve children, and three of their sons arenow holding county offices, one being countysheriff, a second county clerk, while the thirdis county commissioner of Mendocino county,California.
