With the Pilchuck River bank in its normal channel west of Granite Falls, WA, the rest of the channel is resculpted. Here a contractor shapes the area where the river was temporarily diverted so crews could rebuild the riverbank with logs, rocks and plants. The riverbank had been crumbling for years and threatened to destroy SR 92 unless WSDOT stabilized it. The reinforced riverbank has a gentler slope. The logs and rocks will help absorb the force of the water in a sharp curve. River restoration 29644348571 o
