In order toaccomplish this, the government should be arranged with astaff officer, five or six companies complete with officers andsoldiers, and give to each captain, and even to the subalternsa seig-niory of ninety arpents depth by a league in front, andoblige each soldier to take land on the seigniory of his captainor officer, who will give each a domain or fief, and then inorder to establish and cultivate the lands more quickly, theyshould be divided into companies of a dozen soldiers with asergeant to guide them, and make them work together
