Behind the village of Nyaung Ohak by Inle Lake Myanmar a covered stairway leads to the temple of Shwe Inn Thein Paya, a 17th century temple complex of 1,054 brick, white and gold stupas some in a state of ruin some repaired to their former glory courtesy of donations from local worshipers around the world.
