St Andrews university town on the East Coast of Fie in Scotland. The town is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle. St Andrews has a population of 16,596 making this the fifth settlement in Fife. Today St Andrews is known as the "home of golf". This in part due to the Royal and Ancient Golf Course, founded in 1754, is the most frequent venue for The Open Championship, the oldest of golf's four major championships. Photo:Jeff Gilbert
