Chamonix, France. 29th Aug, 2014. Runners battled several hours of rain and ran through the night during the annual mountain ultra marathon in Chamonix France. The race takes the runners through 3 alpine countries (France, Switzerland and Italy), over many high mountain passes for a total of 163km of running and 9600m of height gain total while circumnavigating the Mont Blanc massif. The race takes the runners through 3 alpine countries (France, Switzerland and Italy), over many high mountain passes for a total of 163km of running and 9600m of height gain total while circumnavigating the Mont Blanc massif. The race is conducted in semi-autonomy with only a few stops for food and water. The first few elite runners completed the course in under 22 hours, but most runners required 2 nights of running to complete the course sometime on Sunday 31 August 2014
