Baroque St Hedwig's church by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer in the village of Legnickie Pole in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. Baroque statues on the portal of the church show the Mongols as the Turks. The village of Legnickie Pole (The field of Legnica) was the site of the decisive Battle of Legnica on 9 April 1241. In the battle, Mongols of the Golden Horde defeated a Polish-German army under Duke Henry II the Pious of Silesia. The battle marked the westernmost expansion of the Mongols into Central Europe. Church of St Hedwig (Jadwiga) in honour of the Battle of Legnica was built by Czech Baroque architect Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer.
