The Royal Bank of Scotland’s branch in Penang, Malaysia. It closed and was sold in May 2016 as part of RBS restructuring.


The RBS branch in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia recently housed the Dutch Bank ABN Amro. RBS acquired it as part of its take over of the Dutch bank. The building dates from 1905 and is in the neo-classical style. RBS closed overseas and many branches such as this as part of its attempt to cut costs following recent heavy closed in May 2016 and the building sold to CTBC Financial Holdings Co. a Taiwanese financial holding firm.
