Selenite crystals. Selenite, a variant of gypsum (calcium sulphate), is a common and abundant mineral throughout the world. Gypsum forms some of the largest crystals found in nature and is commonly found in sedimentary rock. It has a wide range of applications in industry, including for construction materials and food additives. This sample, from Morocco, is 140 millimetres long.
