But it hasmatriculated 87,000 students; it has graduated10,000 Bachelors, 2,000 Masters, 1,200 Doctors ofPhilosophy, and 600 Doctors of Law. It has anannual enrolment of 11,000 students; it has alibrary of almost 1,000,000 books and assetsaggregating $50,000,000. Other universities are of course older, larger, orricher; but Chicago has been in many ways apioneer in American education. It was the firstto offer regular university work through theSummer Quarter, and still while most universitycampuses are drowsing, deserted, in summersunshine, Chicagos quadrangles are humming with5,000 of the most eager students of the year.
