Immunodeficient baby. Nurse plays with a baby suffering from congenital immunodeficiency in a sterile room. The baby is lying on the hospital bed and the nurse is wearing a full body gown with a hair and face mask to prevent infecting the baby. The baby is suffering from an inherited disorder which results in the failure of the body's immune system. It's body is therefore defenceless against infections or tumours and must be kept in a sterile environment during treatment. Treatment to correct the disorder depends on the type and severity of the immunodeficiency. Treatments include bone marrow transplants or gene-therapy.
