Close-up view of the balcony pillars decoration on first floor from inside The Parliament Palace, commonly known as the ‘House of the People’ (Casa Poporului) is a massive white, marble office building, distinguished in its architectural style of the post-Communist era, built between 1984-1989 by the late Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. The palace is one of the biggest (third in terms of volume after the Cape Canaveral) buildings in Europe and second biggest in the world (after the Pentagon) and was designed, furnished by Romanian architects using purely Romanian materials.
