This is the most durable plant grown for indoor decoration. It will grow and do well under conditions that would be sure death to many other plants. It flourishes in sunshine or shade, does not mind dust or dry air, and can stand a good deal of cold. Leaves are borne on stems sent up from the crown, growing erect, one and a half to two feet in length and about four inches in breadth. Thej' are thick and leathery in texture and of a dark green color, beautifully striped with creamj' white of irregular widths running the length of the leaf.
